Kathryn Simms - Superintendent of International Schools in the Eastern Region

We are pleased to announce that Ms. Kathryn Simms has joined Maarif Company as Superintendent of Maarif International Schools in the Eastern Region (Manarat Al-Khobar - Al-Faisaliah). With over 23 years of leadership experience in education, Kathryn brings extensive knowledge in school management, curriculum development, and student well-being.

Kathryn's career includes significant achievements and leadership roles in esteemed educational institutions worldwide. As Principal at Tohoku International School in Japan, she aligned the curriculum with the International Baccalaureate (IB), supported the school's first year of the Diploma Program (DP), and initiated continuous teacher training. Her efforts led to increase in student enrollment through strategic marketing and the introduction of intensive English as an Additional Language (EAL).

Previously, Kathryn served as Campus Head at Raha International School in Abu Dhabi, managing a diverse student body of 2,200 students from 86 nationalities. She supported the opening of a new campus, enhanced the learning environment by repurposing spaces, and promoted cultural diversity and well-being initiatives. Under her leadership, the school earned its first "Outstanding" rating from the Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK) in 2016 until 2022.

In addition to her administrative roles, Kathryn has served as Vice Principal and Head of Secondary at various institutions, leading teams of senior and middle leaders, subject specialists, and learning assistants, fostering a collaborative environment focused on student achievement and staff development.

Kathryn holds a master’s in business administration from the University of the People and is a certified National Professional Qualification for Senior Leadership (NPQSL) facilitator. She is also an Approved School Inspector with Tribal.
